Reading : The Great Divorce - C.S. Lewis

I used to read a whole lot. I was never a great student in school... hated reading, but a number of years ago, through life experiences, I became somewhat "Teachable". During this time I started reading... reading books of all kind. Spiritual books, psychological based books, philosophical books, historical books.... novels... etc.

C.S. Lewis became a favorite of mine. C.S. Lewis was a great writer, some will remember him as a christian writer... which he most certainly was. But whatever your belief, I think there are some great writings to be enjoyed....

One of his most popular and well known book series is definately Narnia.. and even while I write this I can picture the DVD covers of a couple of the movies that I see in the shopping malls. (no I have not seen the movies... although, I think I will soon)

This book, The Great Divorce is a fine read. This is not a christian philosophy type book but rather it is a fictional work with a moral.

Reggie Gates's Gravatar The Great Divorce is a good read and makes several good points. I do think of it as being written from a Christian point of view - for example, see the dialogue between the Spirit and the Episcopal clergyman - but it can be read by anyone. As I see it, The Great Divorce attempst to answer the question "Are people really sent to Hell, and if so, why?" from a point of view that assumes the doctrines of Christianity.

You might try the Wikipedia article on The Great Divorce (Wikipedia has good information on the books by Lewis). I produced a podcast about The Great divorce as a part of my series on the books by C S Lewis - you can check it out at the the website URL above.

I am sure that you'll enjoy the book

I actually read it before, along with several other C.S. Lewis books... I enjoy his works.

Thanks for the comments.

I'll check out the podcast.
